It was the ardent zeal for advancement of higher education that the people of Dhaniakhali to establish

in 1976 as a Junior College with the Higher Secondary Course which was later upgraded into a
Degree College in 1978
with all the three streams
Arts, Science and Commerce
being affiliated under the University of Burdwan. The college stands at the heart of Dhaniakhali. It is under grants-in-aid Scheme of the
Government of West Bengal.
The College campus extends over an area of 03 acres.
The college provides Honours in Political Science, Mathematics, English, Accountancy, Bengali and History. Besides the
main building,
the college has a separate library building
(Netaji Bhawan),
which has more than 18,794 books and journals. The newly constructed
Jagadish Chandra Bose Bhawan, Vidyasagar Bhawan, U.G.C. Building
have provided more class rooms to meet the growing demands. Moreover, the college has a separate building for
Chhatra Sansad.
The main building encompasses a good garden along with
Ayruvedic Plants.
The laboratories are relatively well-equipped. There are enough classrooms. Microphone systems are available in rooms where it is necessary. The boundary wall of the college has been completed under the MLA LAD Fund. The college hostel for girls is going to be constructed soon under the U.G.C. special scheme. The ground floor of the same is already complete.
The college has a spacious playground and a big pond surrounded by the shady green trees. The two agile units, the
NCC
and the
NSS,
add much to the progress in the academic atmosphere of the college. It is worth mentioning that the
NCC
and the
NSS
have already imprinted their valuable marks for the total development of the college. The newly established Gymnasium has been opened up for existing and former students. Considering the acute shortage of land, the G.B. has already purchased twently sataks (approximately) of land adjacent to the college premises.More land is yet to be purchased. Moreover, the college has already approached the high authorities for introducing job oriented new course for the coming session.
Apart from the academic development, the college is keen on the all-round development of the students. Regular counselling by the teahers is offered to the students for guidance towards an exact route for establishment in multifarious segments of life. The college has already left its mark of success in different spheres. The college has undergone
Assessment and Accreditation
made by the
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
on March 28th and 29th, 2005.
The college is determined for a much better rank and grade in near future depending on the implementation of the recommendations made by the
NAAC
with all kinds of academic and financial assistance from the
UGC, NGOs, the State Government, the University of Burdwan,
local
BEUP and MP LAD Funds and the well-wishers of the college.
New vocational courses, socially and economically relevant to the needs of the locality, are soon to be introduced as per the NAAC recommendation.
